Chimney sweeps

Chimney sweeps are repositories of good luck everywhere. After all, there's nothing more fortunate than cleaning out soot from a confined area and dying of a lung infection aged 15. In Germany, they are particularly associated with New Year's Day, when you should do your best to shake hands with your friendly neighbourhood sweep. He won't mind at all.
